Edmonton electronic medical records (“EMR) software developer Jonoke Software Development announced today that the latest version of MediFile®, the company’s industry-leading electronic medical records (“EMR”) software, is released.
“
We’ve been working on MediFile Version 4.0 since February 2003,” stated
Jonoke co-founder and CEO Jody Bevan. “Over 10,000 hours of development
has gone into version 4.0, along with a very significant dollar investment,” Bevan
added.
New features include (for Alberta physicians) a
live, system to system link with Alberta Wellnet, the provincial electronic
health records (“EHR”)
and an integrated web-based link with health network. Alberta leads North America
in this field. As the first software vendor to pass Wellnet’s rigorous
system-to-system conformance testing, Jonoke emerges as a clear medical software
leader.
Also embedded in MediFile 4.0 is a ground-breaking
new built-in dictation/transcription feature. Doctors will now have
the ability to dictate patient care notes. Using
MediFile 4.0, these sound bites are embedded into the patient’s record.
A transcriptionist subsequently clicking on the sound bite icon within the patient’s
record will have the doctor’s verbal notes played back to them.
Bevan noted that there are numerous other new features
in Version 4.0 that will be announced in the days ahead. “I’m proud of the fantastic work
done by our team, led by chief programmer John Craig. There’s no question
that MediFile Version 4.0 will be seen as a major breakthrough in EMR software – its
power, flexibility, and ease of use are going to make it easy for doctors, nurses,
and medical administrators to move into the paperless realm. The result will
be better patient care, and that’s good for everyone,” Bevan concluded.
