Jonoke is pleased to announce that we are a founding member of the Canadian Healthcare Information Technology Trade Association (CHITTA).
CHITTA is an organization that represents the Health Information System vendors of Canada. This organization is used to both communicate to its members, but also as a single point of contact between vendors and others. Initially this is most important for the vendors to have a voice to communicate with the various levels of government that are creating standards for health informatics.
Typically what has been done is that the government comes out with standards that are created by those not using paperless medical office systems, or designing them. The result has been less than satisfactory for everyone involved. Additionally, huge amounts of coding has been required by many vendors to implement features that have dubious value to the end users - you.
CHITTA represents all of its members. Various committees are being formed by the various provincial governments to set standards, and design plans for the future. CHITTA has been received with encouragement by several provincial governments and committee members.
Jody Bevan has been selected to sit on the Vendor Conformance & Usability Requirements (VCUR) Task Force. It is expected that this task force will represent vendors across Canada at the various committees on this topic.
