Jonoke Software uses ACI's 4th Dimension server and WebStar Server suite as well as other security hardware / software solutions. We use these internally and install these at our client sites.

Recent stories in the media about sites being hacked into that do not use these technologies are interesting and of concern. Though this is the case, Jonoke has researched the issues enough to be confident that our solution will stand the test.

Recently the US Army was the target of a concerted effort to break into their Internet based systems. They were the unfortunate target of several successful breakins in the past. In this latest round the USA Army systems withstood the attacks. Here is a recent article on this.

StarNine Technologies, Inc. publishers of the WebSTAR Server Suite and ACIUS, Inc. publishers of the 4th Dimension RAD/RDBMS Environment, today reaffirmed their commitment to creating the most secure server products possible. This announcement comes after the successful repulsion from an attack early last week by a group of Brazilian hackers on the United States Army's www.army.mil site which is currently served by WebSTAR Server. These same hackers did successfully manage to access several other government sites last week including the Bureau of Land Management's National Training Center and two other U.S. Army web servers which were not running WebSTAR.

In September of last year, the U.S. Army changed their operating system from a Windows NT based server to the Macintosh based WebSTAR Server Suite after the Army's main Web site was altered by a hacker. The continuous attempt this server faces has only served to reinforce to ACI and StarNine the need both government and corporate servers have for the tight security WebSTAR's servers provide.

"It is gratifying to know that WebSTAR has been able to withstand this attack on the U.S. Army site but we also know there are hackers out there who will see WebSTAR as a challenge," said Brendan Coveney, President ACI US, Inc. "That is why we are committed to maintaining the most secure server product possible to protect against future attacks." "While it is technically possible to hack a server running WebSTAR, such a hack could only be done by security holes explicitly created by the Webmaster," stated Eric Zelenka, product manager for WebSTAR.
