Schematic: Simple JonokeMed™ Setup
A network relies most heavily on the switch. This is the
focal point for all traffic between computers, servers, and
other devices. The JonokeMed™ server, as the 'brain' of the
entire system, provides connections to workstations for using
the
system, managing the data and its security; this should always
be a Windows (i.e. Dell) server. The Butler Server provides
additional services, such as faxing and images, to the workstations.
A shared network printer is connected directly to the switch,
so that it is available from any workstation at any time.
A workstation may be set up at reception, in each exam room, and in doctors' offices. Also, users can connect remotely, such as from home or another medical facility (as suggested by the laptop, shown above). The Internet connection, which the clinic purchases from an ISP, can facilitate Jonoke support, remote access, online research, e-mail, and more.
