FREEDOM Medical Office Software

Office Management

Freedom begins with Electronic Medical Records, then adds scheduling and accounting — but doesn't stop there. Freedom software also provides you with the features you need to run a truly paperless office.

Office Applications – Word processing, spreadsheet, and drawing packages are included and fully integrated with Freedom.

Address Book – Store contact information, particularly referring doctors, with this unique, built-in address record screen.

Communication – Printing, faxing, and more – built into Freedom – keep you in touch with patients and associates.

Data Entry – Adding information to your Freedom database is a snap, thanks to the versatility of Freedom's smart, cohesive input system.

Office Applications

Freedom would not be as complete without the standard office applications you need for clerical and other tasks. It includes a Word Processor, Drawing Application, E-mail, Instant Messaging, and a Spreadsheet Application.

These tools are smartly integrated with Freedom and the database, and are always mere mouse clicks away.

Address Book

Freedom EMR software is predominately built around patient records. However, you certainly have other non-patient contacts – including referring doctors, businesses, associates, and more.

The Address Book allows you to store such contact information, and, where applicable, make use of that information elsewhere in Freedom. Particularly in the case of referring doctors, you are able to identify the appropriate Address Book contact right in a patient record.

Address Book contacts can be added to group distribution lists for certain types of letters or faxes. Each contact can have a default method for their letters – printed, faxed, e-mailed – saving you time when sending letters.

Communication

Printing, faxing, e-mail and more, is all part of what Freedom does for your clinic: it is a transformation into a more efficient business, particularly in relation to time and costs.

Printing
A Freedom clinic is paperless, although there are situations that require a printout of information. This is simplified with a networked printer and server queuing.

Faxing
Unlike printing, Freedom frees you from paper faxes, thanks to an integrated digital faxing system. Write/send and receive/read faxes without ever having a hard copy – but with a single click you can print a fax.

Templates
There is a multitude of situations in your daily work greatly sped up thanks to Freedom's template support: letters, faxes, invoices, sketches, spreadsheets, and more.

Labels
Freedom allows you to easily make labels. Connect a label printer to a workstation and share it with the network, then create labels from within any of a number of screens in Freedom.

Data Entry

Freedom is a data-driven system, and in the case of historical data, this entails data entry in order to transition from a paper system to an electronic system. Then, on an ongoing basis, new information that comes into the clinic also needs to be added to the database. Freedom employs a number of tools and strategies to help speed up data entry.

Data validation
Numerous data fields will tend to be filled with similarly-formatted values. Freedom checks certain fields as you enter data and alerts you to incorrect or questionable values, in case of a typo or other error. Since this happens on the workstation rather than the server, this feature does not cause unnecessary network traffic or server load.

Remote access
On the road? Can't make it into the office? Since Freedom can support remote access via the Internet, you are still able to do everything you would have done in Freedom. This includes data entry as needed.

Scanning
Archiving paper charts and other hard copy records is made simple thanks to Freedom's Image Server. You can scan letters, charts, and other documents or pictures, save the scan images to the Image Server, and connect the scans to the appropriate patient records. The images are pristine, retaining all formatting and handwriting. And, since these files are stored separately from the Freedom database, they do not create problems with data file size or performance, as happens with other EMR software.

Lab results import
Freedom supports import of electronic data from many labs. The information goes directly into the database.

Smart Pop-up menus
The predecessor to Clairvoyance (see below), these handy menus let you quickly choose a common value for a field, also based on a list of probable values for that field. These list items are easily modifiable.

'Clairvoyance'
As with data validation, many fields tend to be filled with one of a common set of values, such as the province for an address. In this case, Freedom frequently employs 'clairvoyance', or autocompletion, based on a custom list for a particular field. The closest matching term in the list for a specific field appears as you type. This also promotes consistency across the database, even if you have many staff entering information.

Digital photography
Image files transfered to computer from a digital camera can also be added to the Image Server (as with scanning, above), and connected to the applicable patient records. Use this method, for example, to include a photo of a patient, and perhaps of a physical malady as part of an encounter. The possibilities are extensive.
