Time-saving Features
"Integration" may seem like a vague or clichéd term, but Freedom's level of integration is far from cliché. This is especially apparent for accounting staff, whose work is made so much more productive with Freedom.
Freedom's Accounts Receivable system smartly uses information from throughout your database as needed to maintain complete, accurate billing records. Generate billing records based on your daysheet to save valuable data entry time. Create your own command keys for the billing codes you use most often. Modify and update patient, appointment and referring doctor information directly from your billing screen.
And, as with the rest of Freedom, a full audit trail is maintained as a safety and security measure.
Electronic Billing
Freedom provides you with electronic billing features, which make the provincial system work for you. You can generate your billing submission (claim) files and have Freedom verify each line of data according to your province's guidelines for this information. You can correct problem billings as you go, well before you even submit them.
Then retrieve/import your return (pay) files and let Freedom reconcile them for you. This will keep you up-to-date on this aspect of your cash flow and remove the mystery and complication of health care billings. All explanatory codes for rejected claims are displayed with the text of the explanation, saving you the time it would take to look up the rejection reason.
Freedom also keeps you on track with changes to submission guidelines, which may be implemented by your provincial health care provider. You can create and modify rules for each billing code and modify these rules as needed to immediately catch up to guidelines.
Third Party & Direct Billing
Your clinic issues invoices to individuals and organizations other than your provincial health care provider, and Freedom gives you a number of tools and templates for accomplishing this.
Third Party
These billings are for non-health care fees and coverage, such as Workers' Compensation Board claims. Freedom makes it easy to compile billings for a particular agency and to issue an invoice — or, with simple preference settings, you can customize the way such statements are generated.
Direct Billing
In the case of billings directly to a patient, the process is equally straightforward: the invoice can be printed or faxed with a simple mouse click.
Reports
Freedom generates a variety of monthly accounting reports, including detailed and summary reports for appointment statistics, billings, statements, Doc summary, payments, fee codes and billing statuses. These reports can be generated for all or partial area accounts, Health Care Agencies and locations.
Monthly internal billing and payment reconciliation ensures that all Electronic Billing, Third Party and Direct claims are submitted in a correct and timely manner.
Freedom also produces a variety of detailed ("Platinum") accounting reports that can be customized for single or multiple area accounts and generated for a range of accounting months. In addition, every report is broken down into three sections — Third Party, Direct and Electronic Agency Billings. Many of these reports contain detailed or summary accounting information that will assist you with monthly accounting reconciliation.
